A few weeks back, I mentioned that I had a book talk at Leopold’s Bar and Caffé. After the talk, I was chatting with a young woman named Shahayra Majumder about the recent publication of her first chapbook The Unreliable Narrator Wakes Up (copies of her books are available at Leopold’s and Barnes and Noble). She mentioned wanting to do a collaborative book talk in the future if I was interested. Last week, we had our first joint poetry reading at a very cool place in Madison – Cargo Coffee East. Shahayra and I decided on themes and took turns reading our poetry. It was a great setup (thank you to Dana and German at Cargo!) and very comfortable sharing stories and poetry with the gracious crowd that joined us on a Friday night. Shahayra and I will be having another joint event at Kismet Books in Verona, WI on Sunday, October 2nd at 1 p.m. Mark your calendar! Also, give Shahayra a follow on social media @shahayramajumder.
I went to another great venue last week – the Cudahy Public Family Library in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Poetry in the Plaza was an event featuring the South Shore Poets in the beautiful Ladish Foundation Plaza. Many thanks to Michelle Gibbs, Pat Carny and Ed Werstein for hosting this meeting of the minds and hearts! I read three poems along with many other wonderful poets. It was a gorgeous summer night and I enjoyed connecting with poets who are also members of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. I recently became a member of this esteemed organization. I’m honored to have been part of this gathering. Also, I bought a spiral bound 2023 calendar of poems and events – you can pick-up your copy here.
We keep adding dates to the calendar for my book tour, so I hope you will stop by one of the events! Here is the latest list. Feel free to print out and put on your fridge. 😁
Let’s chat soon.
With affection,
Carrie VS
