Carrie Headshot

Hello, dear reader. I'm Carrie Voigt Schonhoff, a poet and author rooted in the heart of Wisconsin. Alongside my two adult children, Sydney and Austin, and our spirited Italian greyhounds, I’ve made it my mission to bring light and connection into the world through the power of poetry.

Widowed in 2012, my journey through loss has shaped much of my work. It taught me to embrace vulnerability, cherish resilience, and find beauty in the spaces between—truths I share through my writing.

I’ve self-published two poetry collections, The Liminal Space and The End of the Beginning, both written for those navigating life’s challenges while holding tight to their dreams. These books explore themes of healing, transformation, and the quiet courage it takes to begin again. At their core is a belief that poetry can be a bridge—helping us connect, understand, and find comfort in one another's stories.

My work has appeared in the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets' Calendar, Bramble Magazine, The Solitary Plover, and Spirit Lake Review.

Beyond the page, I’ve taken my poetry on a national and international book tour, sharing stories and verses across borders. I regularly host poetry jams at local elementary and middle schools, inspiring young voices to find their own creative rhythm. My passion for music has led to the creation of original songs, some of which I perform live—blending spoken word with melody. Whether traveling to new cities or performing on stage, I find joy in the intersections of poetry, music, and human connection.
