Connecting Through Poetry

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

Today, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Chali Pittman at WORT AM radio in Madison, Wisconsin.

See the archived broadcast from 1/7/22 8 O’Clock Buzz starting at the 12-minute mark. It’s a terrific radio station! Chali was a very gracious and well-prepared host. Of course, I love talking about writing and my poetry, but this experience reminded me how much I really enjoy connecting with people and how wonderful it can be.

This is a great quote by Brené Brown, “One thing that keeps us out of connection is our fear that we’re not worthy of connection.”

I think so many of us feel isolated by our surroundings, particularly during Covid, but also by our thoughts. My poems are an attempt to connect with people using my language and my experiences, either real or imagined. I can’t tell you how many times people have said that they relate to my poems. It evoked a memory and/or feelings that they experienced. It’s one of the most wonderful discoveries I’ve made through this process of publishing my books.

I have a lot of upcoming events so please check out my Events section on the website. I’d love to see you if you’re nearby. I want to make sure I thank you for reading my poetry and blog posts and to make the connection!

Let’s talk soon.

With affection,

Carrie VS
