Weekend Full of Family, Friends & Art

I had a great weekend! On Saturday, I meandered on The Covered Bridge Art Studio Tour in Ozaukee County with my friend Kelly. My parents live in Cedarburg and it’s the center of the art tour. Kelly, an artist herself, and I went to lunch and then visited several artists at their homes and studios.

It was a beautiful fall day and I truly enjoyed this experience. It’s a little bit intimate and awkward to go to someone’s studio, which is typically a small space. However, the artists were all very personable and gracious. I bought a beautiful painting, printed cards and jewelry. See below for some of the artists and their information. I highly recommend this event! The Cedarburg Artists Guild always has something going on in the Cultural Center. If you’re in the area, check it out!

After the art tour, I hung out with my parents at the Rivoli Theatre and went to dinner in Port Washington at a place called Inventors Brewpub. It’s a big new restaurant/bar with excellent food and drinks. It’s on the water (inlet) and I can imagine that it would be great when it’s a balmy night, as they have a lot of garage doors that open up the restaurant. We will definitely be back!

On Sunday, I met up with my niece/goddaughter Delaney. She’s a senior in high school and it’s always good to see her! We had brunch at Café 1505 in Mequon and I gave her some birthday gifts. Hold on, is she 18 now? Oh man, time flies! I haven’t been to Café 1505 for years and kind of forgot about it. I used to go there when I was freshly married and had small kids. It was an interesting trip down memory lane. I highly recommend going there. It’s tucked into a small boutique mall.

Delaney was talking about her STEM robotics club and something that they practice called “gracious professionalism”. It means, even though you’re competing, you still root for the other teams. I was taken aback that this is being taught in school and it gives me great hope for her generation. I absolutely love the concept and practice and I’m definitely going to make sure that I use this in my daily life. I can’t wait to see what Delaney does in her next chapter, but I know one thing, the world is a better place with her in it.

I’m enjoying the Wisconsin fall weather and hope it sticks around before the snow begins!

Let’s chat soon.

With affection,

Carrie VS
