The Summer Book Tour Continues!

I love Fridays. It’s probably my favorite day of the week. I’m sure there’s a very involved psychology of why. Summer in Wisconsin is glorious because I’ve survived the winter elements and I am extremely grateful for the sunshine, warm breezes and fireflies at dusk.

Last week I was blessed to have two book talks at wonderful places in Madison, WI. Monday, July 11, I was joined by fellow author/poet Dale Kushner at Leopold’s Bar and Caffe. She read from her novel, essays and beautiful book of poetry. I told stories and read poems and then we collectively had a Q&A session. I enjoyed having another companion at the book talk. I am beyond thankful for those that came out to support Dale and myself.

Leopold’s is a beautiful setting inside and out, and with Molly at the helm, I would highly recommend a visit if you haven’t already. It’s a bookstore, bar and café all wrapped into one. They have a lot of different events and it is definitely one of my happy places to go. Thank you to Dale and Molly for making this night a truly memorable one.

On Thursday, July 14, I went to one of the best bookstores, A Room of One’s Own. They prepared a beautiful patio and a few folks stopped by to listen. We spilled a little bit of tea and had a good time. I met Gideon, one of the bookstore workers, that was so incredibly kind and helpful. But that’s the type of person that works at AROOO. They care about people and support the community in so many ways. Shout out to Gideon, Caide and Gretchen at AROOO! When my first book came out, this bookstore hosted my initial book talk. That night forever changed my life.

I really need to thank my friends and family who keep showing up at these events. They always bring their smiles and encouragement. My daughter Syd and boyfriend Huck are my “crew” and know I’d be lost without them.

Let’s chat soon.

With affection,

Carrie VS
