Always Dream Big & Spring Forward

On Sunday, I woke up to the dogs whining at 8:30 a.m., and I was happy because they usually do at 7:30 a.m. A little gift to me! But it was daylight savings, so they were right on time. I’m excited to start the spring season. Right now, there is quite a bit of snow on the ground, but days are getting longer, I’m seeing more sunshine, and when I go outside, I can hear a cacophony of birds. I love birds for many reasons, so it’s nice to see and hear that they are returning.

I have a chance to do something a little different this May. To date, I’ve enjoyed going to many venues to talk about my books, read poems, and discuss stories that inspired me to write. However, on Monday, May 8th at 6 p.m. at the Sun Prairie Public Library, I will be hosting a book club event that focuses on my second book, The End of the Beginning. The library has purchased books for a book club kit and they are ready to be checked out! Rather than me just reading poems I think the group might like, it’s a chance for them to request readings and ask me questions about the poems and anything else that’s on their mind. I’m excited to try this new format and I’m honored that the Sun Prairie Library is partnering with me. If you already have a book or wish to purchase one, you’re welcome to come as well! I love spending time talking about what inspires us and how we can connect with writing. There’s an event posted online and my Facebook page. Let me know if you’re able to attend.

I watched the 95th Academy Awards last night, and what I loved most were the acceptance speeches. This year, award winners focused their speeches on never giving up, dreaming big and believing in yourself even when others don’t. I’m grateful for the reminders.

Let’s chat soon.

With affection,

Carrie VS
